In 1986, a need for more powerful engines arose. Although the original project was to enlarge Talos, the new chassis, larger cylinders and locomotive-type boiler was then used to construct a complete engine, which is Jason.
Jason was the first locomotive built in the Moors Valley Railway workshop, and is a favourite among our drivers, particularly in less sunny weather!
Jason was overhauled in 2018, which included extending the chassis and a new Southern Green livery. This paint scheme approximates Bulleid’s pre-war livery.
Jason takes the name from the Greek story Jason and the Argonauts.
